The neighborhood to the west of the Milwaukee River, Westown makes up half of Milwaukee’s bustling downtown. You'll find the city's vibrant entertainment district here, home to sports arenas as well as popular venues like the Miller High Life Theatre, Riverside Theater, and Turner Hall Ballroom. The new home of the Milwaukee Bucks, the Wisconsin Sports and Entertainment Center, is slated to open in the fall of 2018, but the excitement is still going strong at the BMO Harris Bradley Center and the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. Just a block away from the arenas is Old World Third Street, a major hub for nightlife downtown and the historic heart of Milwaukee’s German community.

MKE Neighborhood #8 - HARBOR DISTRICT
It was water that first brought people to the land that would become Milwaukee. A lush rice marsh gave way to a bustling port, and today the city is working to revitalize Milwaukee’s harbor. Water technology and research takes center stage at the new UW-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences, and construction will start soon on a new waterfront park with a play structure, canoe launch, and more.
